Contributes to the Dream

The experience for Black Americans in this country has been a very unique experience. Both the good & the ugly fills our history. Both troubles & triumph, & natural talent contributed to constantly re-crafting the vibe of this country that transcends the lows & woes every citizen faces at some point. Each of us, of many cultures, have taken on this American Dream, & it is to us a reflection of what we’re made of.

The issue for Black America however, is that despite all we’ve contributed to the development of this dream, still we remain “under-developed” & dependent on a dream in a way that other’s were not subject to.

This isn’t to paint the wrong narrative of who we are & what we’ve been here in this country. Every contribution adds to the accomplishments of what becomes black excellence. These things are indeed our “higher standard” which has its great purpose(s). But besides these things its within me to see that we have an even HIGHER calling. & I see our standard as a witness of our capability to that call. It was never the case that we were un-capable of achieving what many others have made of this dream. I’m a living example of someone who in my journey was “ever-learning yet never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”(2 Tim 3:7) But what was it that was preventing me? I lacked in guidance, & more than occasionally, I fed into my own distractions, caught up in a dream.

Vision Journals

The intention behind a vision journal aims at transcending those “lows & woes” of this dream through being of better service with-in it. My blog promotes a remission culture of core values, encouraging these with-in the Black American experience. Journaling helps us to utilize these core values into our own personal goals. We do this through a process of self-reflection in understanding how to envision, manifest, & how to turn these goals into purpose.

For me, journaling serves as navigation for the process of my journey itself, giving us a glimpse of the journey from a spiritual perspective. For those who will to discern, I allow precepts to truly grab my attention, & I take the time to meditate on what spirit is saying to me as it pertains to my own journey & path. This is the art of journaling for me.

Why is this Important?

Why is my focus on Black Americans specifically? Because it reflects my own self-love. Reflecting on the love of our own community & the way we work among ourselves will always reflect in the way others work with us. This pertains to all people, & reflects socially.

Sometimes it seems like were counted out when in reality we may count each other out with out even much thought to it. I’ve seen this reflected in my own life many times. But it always forces me to find my own remedy with-in me. The black experience as a whole is no different.

Pro-Black is not Anti-Everybody else

To be pro-black is not anti-everybody else. It’s actually my belief that we as black people will truly thrive at keeping the dream alive. But before we show up for anybody else, its important that we first show up for self. This is in precept with Luke 6:42, in reminder that before I can effectively be of any true service to anybody else, I must be of service to myself first.

This in itself becomes a remission mindset, in questioning what ways I can “show up for myself”?
