Tips & Recommendations on Fasting
In the process of fasting, we discipline ourselves through abstaining from certain foods &/or drink for extended period of time than usual. Through the Humility Process, we observe this discipline of fasting from spiritual perspective of aligning with higher calling of DIVINE will over a matter. However we find the discipline of fasting used also for other reasons such as dietary or political goals apart from religious purposes.
Tips aimed toward Success
It’s usually recommended that we keep hydrated as well as that keep our fasting periods brief for health & safety purposes. Avoiding excessive physical activity is also recommended, that we should rather meditate or reflect on the experience or intention itself behind why we fasting. Keeping a balanced diet when NOT fasting is ideal as well for routine or intermittent fasters, that they maintain quality healthy experience in the process of this discipline.
& so it’s a good idea to look into the quality of your diet, as well as your health in general, before choosing a fast to partake in.
Fasting isn’t for everybody
Any adolescents or elders looking to partake in fasting should definitely consult before partaking. & even then these would probably do better with partaking with a collective of this discipline that they may have supervision in the process. The same goes for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or attempting to conceive. Such case aren’t suitable for partaking in fasting.
If you’re someone with any medical condition, & you’re uncertain concerning whether or not a certain fast may affect your conditions, don’t attempt it without first consulting a medical professional. The same goes for anyone taking prescription medication as well. Take safety precaution to make sure partaking doesn’t interfere with your health in the process.
Alternatives to fasting
Fasting is only one form of an abstaining discipline. However there are other means of abstinence that we find according to the faithful walk. So even if fasting may not be the right thing for you physically, allow spirit to reveal a way in which you may still align that works for you in your personal journey. Again this is a calling that you know yourself & what it is that you seek to achieve through your process.
This is in precept with Romans 12:4, that we have “many members in one body, yet all members have not the same office.” We find that abstinance as a discipline works the same way through the Humility Process, in that there are multiple ways to align in our journey.
Just to list a few alternatives for example, we have:
Celibacy
Sobriety
Temperance
Organization
Lets go back to our notes & handbook
Consider the decluttering notes of your vision journal, & ask yourself what things are worth abstaining from that may help you in achieving your goals. For those using my handbook, “Clothed with Humility,” the purpose & objective in this process, is that we gain some much needed clarity about our own individual situations that we deal with. & so for those who dedicate time in the process, my handbook helps you to go with-in, finding that clarity you need in the matter, & then gives you an opportunity to decide for yourself what to do with that vision.
