THE DHIMMI AGENDA: Fasting supplications
STOIC REALM + DEALING WITH ADVERSARY
Tapping into our Stoic realm helps us to combat the adversary spirit within ourselves first, which better equips us to overcome the adversity we may encounter in our journey.
We do this through process of remission. The “remission of our sins” was the core of the new testament gospel for this reason especially. Not the removing of filth, but that we may establish a healthy conscience through possessing ourselves in our own patience.
There’s an endless number a different ways that we can find to “possess ourselves in patience”. These are things which potentially become anchors for us in our epicurean journey. Even when looking at the history leading up to Dhimma culture, we find a few examples of this.
FASTING SUPPLICATION;
(Stoic Qualities; virtue, charity, knowledge, & legacy)
“Sephardic civilization began long before the reconquista, in a time when the peninsula was ruled by the Muslims & when Arab culture surrounded & influenced the Jews. Sephardic society in the mideval Arab world was Characterized by several features: It’s sense of noble descent; it’s tradition of service to gentile rulers; its high cultural achievement in philosophy & poetry; & its history of crypto-judaism, the secret continued practice of Judaism after apparent conversion under duress.”
-"Sephardic & Mizrahi Jewry: from the golden age of spain to modern times"
And so with this, we find four stoic qualities in which the people of that time were taken with. These essentially were stoic qualities of virtue, charity, knowledge, & legacy. Which are all things that as a result, would continue to be anchors for them, securing for them a foundation in their path and pursuits.
So what does it mean to possess ourselves with patience from a biblical perspective?
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.
The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
But wisdom is justified of all her children.
-Luke 7:31-35
What we find with John the Baptist as well as the son of man, is that through focusing on their God-given agenda, they were able to overcome the adversity that came along with their journey.
In this we find it written, that wisdom is justified of her children. This is the remission of imperfect nature personified; to possess ourselves with patience.
