In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting & ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: -Titus 1:2 & 5
It’s wise to find good counsel when entering this season. Healthy feedback is something that should always be welcomed. But obviously be mindful of the company you keep, & know the difference between a contentious chain and those with a sincerity to help. Being solution-based doesnt always equate to over-bearing restrictions.
This is not to give the wrong impression that we can’t learn somthing from everyone you meet. However, to avoid allowing others to waste our time, it’s important to know exactly what it is that you're looking to accomplish in your season. That way you'll also know what is and isn’t necessary for your own development.
For there are many unruly & vain talkers & deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses teaching things which they ought not for filthy lucre’s sake. -Titus 1:10-11
Through scripture, Sha’ul provides the righteous standard for a Bishop. Seek out such a man for their quality in wise counsel.
If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
For a Bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God: not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort & to convince the gainsayers. -Titus 1:6-9
