What the everyday Black family can learn in 2021
It’s been an subtle concern for many lower income families of how to get by during the pandemic. Members of lower income households face higher risk of catching the virus due to an inability to social distance at their place of work. Awareness of the best prevention methods while in public has proven to be one of our better solutions, but for the family of a lower income, we find need for more pressing demands.
For example its been said that 1 in 10 individuals in the United State’s 34 million people were already considered to be at the poverty level before the impact of the pandemic. & this same data shows black & hispanic households made medians of 60% & 74% of the median white households made in income.
In this, we see how certain systemic & structural issues left un-dealt with could potentially worsen as a result of the pandemic. Now more than ever is it necessary to provide services that connect individuals & families to vital resources, in avoiding greater crisis.
